The Adventures of Asterix
France

Introduction

"The year is 50 B.C. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans. Well not entirely! One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invaders. And life is not easy for the Roman legionaries who garrison the fortified camps of Totorum, Aquarium, Laudanum and Compendium..." For the past 60 years, these few sentences have become a classic, ensuring that generations of readers will have a good time. Since the first ever Asterix plate appeared in the first issue of the weekly Pilote magazine on October 29th, 1959, The Adventures of Asterix the Gaul have come a long way: 38 albums (with a new release in October 2021) and more than 385 million copies sold around the world! This epic saga, translated into more than 116 languages and dialects, is to be read and read again without moderation! The magic potion of René Goscinny (scriptwriter) and Albert Uderzo (illustrator) includes: a good dose of humour, a dash of humility, exceptional character, intelligent narration, a stroke of genius, plenty of friendship, a strong drive and the enormous combined talents of these two creators, gifted with a precise sense of observation and a touch of self-mockery. As of 2021, the Astérix brand is stronger than ever! Now under the care of a new dynamic duo Jean-Yves Ferri (scriptwriter) and Didier Conrad (Illustrator) our indomitable Gauls still have many adventures ahead of them! Together, all the albums would go twice around the Earth and weigh 13,516 tons, on top of each other, that's 9242 Eiffel Towers ... but who is counting right? Ten cult animated films, 4 live actions movies, a theme park near Paris with nearly 2.5 million visitors a year, more than 100 license deals, an animated Netflix series to be released soon and a cartoon starring the ever- popular and always cute little dog Dogmatix in the fall ... Those Gauls are crazy ... and they are not done yet!
